Fraud Policy

Last updated: April 6, 2026

OD MatchMaker is a verified directory for optometry professionals and practice owners. We take the integrity of every profile seriously. This policy explains how we identify, investigate, and act on reports of fraudulent, unlicensed, or impersonating profiles.

What Counts as Fraud

The following are considered violations of our platform integrity rules:

  • Creating a profile while unlicensed and misrepresenting your licensure status
  • Impersonating a real optometrist, practice, or institution
  • Using fabricated credentials, schools, or graduation dates
  • Creating multiple accounts to circumvent a ban or review
  • Submitting false or misleading practice ownership or employer information

How to Report a Fraudulent Profile

If you believe a profile is fraudulent, unlicensed, or impersonating a real person or practice, please contact us immediately at connect@odmatchmaker.com with the subject line “Fraud Report.” Include as much detail as possible: the profile in question, what you believe is fraudulent, and any supporting evidence.

Our Investigation Process

We investigate all reports of fraudulent profiles within two business days. During this period, the profile may be temporarily hidden from search results pending review.

If a profile is found to be unlicensed or impersonating a person or practice, it will be removed immediately and the user will be permanently banned from the platform. We may also report serious cases to the relevant provincial, territorial, or state optometry regulatory body.

Our Verification Measures

To reduce fraud before it occurs, OD MatchMaker requires all optometrist and practice owner profiles to be manually reviewed and approved by our team before becoming visible.
